Our Set Up

Capuchin Charities is the social development arm of the Capuchin Franciscan Fathers – Kenya. In response to the call of the Gospel we open ourselves to a life of continued conversion; reverence all of God’s creation; identify with the victim, the poor and the marginalized. The office works with various donors, government agencies and people of good will to address the social and human developmental needs of marginalized communities within Kenya.

  • We focus on the following six priority issues affecting its target groups:
  • Emergency and Relief Response; Where the Capuchin Friars work is areas prone to disasters like floods and drought among catastrophes and so we should be prepared any time a need arises.
  • Sustainable Livelihoods; – In our peace program, always people ask for alternative to violence, war and other things we need to empower differently. We had the post-election violence in the country, the Pokomo – Orma of 2001-2002 and 2012-2013 among other hard experiences, this desk is necessary.
  • Justice – which is involved much in advocacy and informing and transmitting knowledge to all.
  • Peace – using St. Francis spirit and skills learnt in Damietta we reconcile people of all races, ethnicity and religious background, to live as children of the same Father and creator.
  • Integrity of Creation – to us our common home is mother earth and so the responsibility of caring.
  • Education;
